CCL to handle JISC Collections' subscription and help desk service.

February 2008

Following a tender exercise undertaken at the end of 2007, JISC Collections, the body that negotiates national e-resources agreements on behalf of the UK academic community, has awarded its Subscriptions and Helpdesk contract to Content Complete Limited (CCL).

Since 2001 JISC, and more recently JISC Collections, has outsourced the back office subscriptions and helpdesk administration of the agreements it negotiates to an experienced third party. With several years experience of delivering subscription management and helpdesk services to other clients, in addition to its core competence as a negotiations and licensing company, CCL looks forward to working with JISC Collections and offering a high quality service to eligible institutions in the UK and overseas.

CCL will commence the new role in August 2008 and will be working closely with JISC Collections and Swets, the current provider of the service, to ensure a smooth transition across to the new service. Further communications with more specific details and dates will be provided in the coming months. To view the JISC Collections Press Release click here.

CCL helps NHS East of England libraries deliver online journals to users.

January 2008

All NHS staff working in the East of England now have access to a significant number of key online journals as a result of collaboration between Content Complete and ECLaKSA, the NHS Eastern Counties Library and Knowledge Services Alliance.

Having identified the content they wanted to licence and secured the necessary funding, ECLaKSA librarians asked CCL to help them approach publishers, obtain pricing proposals and review the licences put forward. With tight deadlines and a budget to match, CCL’s task was to try and deliver the publishers’ proposals and licences to ECLaKSA librarians for them to be able to make final decisions. Additionally, CCL provided advice and support, based on their experience, to help resolve queries that cropped-up during the process.

Joan Lomas, who headed the ECLaKSA Project Group said: “We are delighted to be able to deliver these key online journals to our users in the East of England. It has proved to be a challenging project but also highly rewarding and we appreciate the help and support provided by Content Complete”.

Paul runs 2007 Flora London Marathon!

April 2007

It took Paul just over five and a half hours to complete the course, which was longer than he had hoped for, the heat taking its toll during the second half.

Paul commented: "It was a fabulous experience and the fine weather meant the streets were lined with people cheering everyone on throughout the whole course."  Paul's efforts raised around £1,500 from sponsors and well-wishers and has been donated to the Helen and Douglas House, a hospice for children and young people, based in Oxford and working on behalf of families throughout the UK.

CCL partners with E.S. Burioni Ricerche Bibliografiche to manage national negotiations on behalf of Italian academic institutions

March 2007

Content Complete Limited (CCL) the UK-based negotiations and support services company and E.S. Burioni, one of the leading distributors of online information and consortia consultant in Italy, have joined forces to handle contract negotiations for online journals on behalf of the academic community in Italy.

In late 2006, CARE, the co-ordination group for access to electronic resources established by the terms of the agreement reached by CRUI – Permanent Conference of the Rectors of Italian Universities - and Italian Consortia and other Groups operating in the market for electronic licenses, undertook a market survey to identify candidates to undertake negotiations on their behalf with a leading STM publisher. A formal tender procedure followed the initial market soundings and a contract was awarded to the combined team of E.S. Burioni and CCL.

The combination of Burioni and CCL brings together in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Italian academic landscape and considerable experience of contract negotiations in the STM online journals market.

CCL coordinates e-journal pricing trials

Jan 2006

Content Complete Ltd has been commissioned by JISC - part of the Higher Education Funding Council in the UK - to coordinate and manage the trials of two journal business models. Five publishers and 10 university libraries have agreed to test the two models during 2006 and report back on the findings. The models both include the ability to access all the journals of the publishers and to pay a fixed amount per download, in some cases as the main means of purchasing access and in other cases as a way to pay for access to peripheral journals, in addition to core subscription expenditure. The trials follow a report on Journals Business Models prepared in 2005 for JISC by RightsCom - a copy of which can be seen at the NESLi2 website: click here...
